Specular Microscope

At Contact Lens & EyeCare Gallery, we are proud to announce our newest piece of technology, the Konan Specular Microscope. Konan has created an instrument that is simple and easy to use and also very informational for both doctor and patient. This state-of-the-art technology evaluates the endothelium of your cornea, non-invasive, totally free of any discomfort, and extremely quick. The microscope captures an image of your endothelium and allows the doctor to analyze the appearance of the cells. If the screening indicates early endothelial damage, a more detailed examination of the endothelium may be indicated to provide the best possible treatment.

Your cornea is your window to the world. It is the clear outer layer of the eye and is the most important focusing element of the visual system. Endothelial damage can be caused by eye injuries, certain diseases such as diabetes and glaucoma, and eye surgeries. In addition, external factors such as contact lens wear can also lead to changes in the structure and function of the endothelium.

Risk factors include:

  • Contact lens wear
  • Refractive surgery
  • Cataract surgery
  • Dry Eye
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma
  • Prescription eye drops

The i-Terminal by Zeiss combines a new level of fitting and measurement precision with enhanced patient consultation resulting in increased progressive lens performance and increased customer satisfaction.

Dear Valued Patient,

At Contact Lens & Eye Care Gallery, the health and safety of our patients and employees is our top concern.

Our office has a long-standing practice of disinfecting all areas of our office throughout the day, and all clinic areas are disinfected prior to every patient seen.

As always during the peak of flu season, and with the growing concerns around the Coronavirus, we have taken extra measures to increase frequent cleaning and have provided additional training and precautions to our staff to help keep their health and yours safe.

As a reminder, if you have fallen ill, have traveled abroad, or had close contact with someone who has traveled abroad within the past 14 days and are due to be seen for an appointment, please let our office know. We will be happy to change your appointment to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

Feel free to contact us with any questions. Thank you.
